Description

The mission of Producibility Scientist is to support Seed Product Development and collaborate with Production Research (PR), aligned to the End-to-End process, in delivering genetic gain, meeting customer need, and minimizing production costs.

The Producibility Scientist supports the Mexico region SPRC team providing quality seed parent characterization information for data-driven decision-making across all Mexico hybrid crops in collaboration with Mexico Seed Production & Supply Chain (SPSC) to improve producibility and lower production costs, aligned to the End-to-End principles.

Reports to: Seed Production Research and Characterization Southern Cone and Meso Andean

Geographic Reach: Regional

Base: Culiacán area, Mexico

Responsibilities:

· Support alignment and execution of regional PC experiments and protocols to the global SPRC model driving high quality data acquisition for data-driven decision-making across all hybrid crops in the region.

· Support region PC research team to deliver overall research goals and objectives aligned with corporate research and product targets and the End-to-End principles.

· Partner with region Seed Product Development to design and execute SPRC experiments with a producibility mindset via the multi-crop/multi-function research center network to provide high quality, timely parent data for advancement decisions.

· Establish collaboration between producibility information and product development customers (EZ/CZ leads, SPSC, Commercial) to ensure product advancement decisions are made that meet customer need, deliver reliable seed production, and minimize production costs. Contribute to solutions to minimize production costs with challenging seed parents.

· Contribute to culture of innovation by driving continuous improvement in processes, phenotyping, systems, and data management/analysis/information transfer. Encourage continuous learning activities and experiences.

· Live Corteva: Embed “execution excellence” into personal management practices and the norms established with the Mexico region SPRC team.

· Conduct all activities in the region with a priority on safety to achieve zero incidents.

Qualifications

§ Education: Undergraduate in Agronomy. Minimum 5 years Seed Production experience – corn crop.

· Knowledge & Experience: Strong background and understanding of product development process. Knowledge and experience in working with and evaluation of crop traits in various crops. Strong background in statistics, experimental design, and analysis. Understanding of the seed business and what is required to meet customer need.

· Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills; interpersonal skills; presentation skills; technical leadership; analytical/statistical skills; decision – making; coaching.

· Abilities: Lead and enable PC contacts at research centers in the characterization of seed parents via the Mexico multi-crop/multi-function research center network. Form key working relationships and collaborate successfully with key stakeholders in Seed Product Development (EZ Leads, Ops Leads, research center staff), GSO, and Commercial to turn seed parent data into useful knowledge to meet customer need and minimize production costs.

· Leadership Aspiration: Products, Product Knowledge, and People.

· Travel availability for frequent travels with appropriate driver’s license.

· Availability to set home address close to Culiacán, Sinaloa, México.

· Previous experiences on corn and seed production practices.

· Desirable to be a person with high curiosity and innovative mindset.

· Willing to overcome obstacles and find out solutions.

· English minimum as intermediate level.
