Description

The Research Associate will be a key member of the Crop Transformation Systems team within Biotechnology/Trait Discovery & Optimization.

Responsibilities – What You’ll Do:

  • This research associate will follow standard operation procedures to generate quality transgenic and genome editing events to support traits discovery, optimization, and product development.
  • Crop transformation work involves isolating embryos or preparing other explants, performing transformation, sub-culturing tissue culture materials during the selection process and regenerating plants.
  • The Research Associate will also participate process improvement experiments for testing new ideas and technologies aimed at improving overall transformation efficiency or event quality.
  • The Research Associate will maintain accurate electronic and legal notebook records for all research work, summarize results, note areas for improvement, execute all lab work by following safety and ergonomic standards.
  • The Research Associate will need to have excellent interpersonal/team communication skills, organizational skills, keen attention to detail and the desire to work as a member of a team of scientists working to achieve common team goals.

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications Desired
Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, plant science, agronomy, or equivalent amounts of relevant education

Competencies and Experience Desired

  • Excellent written/verbal communication, basic computer and organizational skills are required.
  • Candidates should possess a demonstrated ability to work effectively as an independent contributor to meet work demand and deadlines. Technical trainings will be provided.
  • General knowledge of plant biology and biotechnology. Working knowledge and experience with cell and tissue culture and plant transformation are highly desired.
