We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, and enthusiastic Data Scientist with a background in machine learning and life or physical sciences. The preferred location for this position is our Corteva Global Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA however the ability to work remotely is also a possibility.
The successful candidate will join a strong, globally distributed Data Science team that develops and applies innovative analytics and data science solutions to deliver insights across Corteva Research & Development. The position will primarily work on computational metabolomics, and will partner with mass spectrometrists, genomics and proteomics data scientists, chemists, and biologists to deliver sustainable crop health solutions to agriculture.

What You’ll Do:

  • Innovate at the interface of data science, biology, and chemistry to drive value for our metabologenomics natural products and biologicals discovery platform.
  • Evaluate and implement state-of-the-art analytics and models to analyze untargeted metabolomics data from thousands of microbial strains and address novel challenges in repository-scale metabolomics.
  • Actively seek, evaluate and implement novel AI/ML predictive technologies for metabolomics and metabologenomics data analysis and discovery.
  • Partner with collaborators across domains to drive the development of integrated discovery pipelines, target selection and advancement, and metabolic pathway analysis toward new natural products and live microbial solutions for crop health.

Qualifications

Education:

  • You have a minimum MS + 3 years of experience or Ph.D. in quantitative fields (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science) or in life or physical sciences (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

What Skills You Need:

  • You have a strong history of independent scientific problem solving, from hypothesis generation to construction and deployment of appropriate analytics to interpretation and presentation of the results.
  • You have a fundamental understanding of AI/ML and demonstrated experience using machine learning, statistical models, and/or deep learning in scientific data analysis.
  • You have a good understanding of mass spectroscopy.
  • You have a strong foundation in Python, R, C++ or a similar programming language for data management, analysis, and ML applications.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable working as part of a project team.

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Demonstrated experience with design and development of analytics and models for mass spectrometry and metabolomics data.
  • Experience or education in natural products chemistry/biochemistry and knowledge of cheminformatics and chemical languages.
  • Practical knowledge and experience analyzing untargeted metabolomics data using molecular networking and GNPS.
  • Experience with other omics data (e.g.; protein and DNA sequence analysis).
  • Practical knowledge and experience with cloud-computing systems and platforms.
