Description
The Enabling Capabilities group within Small Molecule Discovery and Development (SMDD) at Corteva Agriscience is looking for a highly motivated NMR spectroscopy specialist to join our team at the Corteva Indianapolis Global Business Center. The SMDD group at Corteva Agriscience represents a significant portion of our R&D innovation engine, working towards sustainable crop protection solutions. We are seeking individuals for our SMDD Enabling Capabilities group who can collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to discover, develop, and launch our crop protection pipeline.
Responsibilities: What Will you Do?
- Support throughput of NMR sample requests contributing to discovery and development project knowledge advancement
- Perform NMR sample analysis in support of High Throughput Synthesis and Experimentation
- Solve complex chemical and structural characterization problems using NMR spectroscopy techniques while collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Support quantitative NMR experiment requests for purity determination and other problem-solving
- Perform NMR characterization for the certificate of analysis for several types of materials such as tox lots or standards
Critical Success Factors:
- Technical Ability: Must be able to independently generate and interpret data to complete routine and non-routine NMR requests. Must leverage NMR technical expertise and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality data within timelines, continually develop knowledge, meet project goals, and enable informed decisions.
- Innovation: A key aspect of the role is innovation. The individual must demonstrate NMR knowledge and problem-solving abilities by generating novel ideas and creatively applying existing and new NMR methods and technology.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness: Since all projects are team-based, success depends on working directly with stakeholders to collectively meet their needs. The individual must communicate effectively, build, and sustain productive relationships.
- Initiative: Must independently drive results and contribute effectively within teams. Demonstrated initiative in planning and executing activities to achieve defined goals is essential.
- Teamwork: Given that all projects involve teams of varying sizes, the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and provide NMR spectroscopy expertise to advance projects is crucial.
Qualifications
Requirements: What You Will Need:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related discipline preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with an M.S. in Chemistry and relevant experience in NMR spectroscopy.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of NMR theory to solve chemical structures and interactions of small molecules.
- Ability to interpret multinuclear 1D and 2D NMR data.
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting NMR hardware and software, including magnets, consoles, conventional and cryo-probes, autosamplers, and workstations.
- Effective interaction and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.
- Strong scientific creativity, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong prioritization abilities; ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
