By agreeing to this Applicant Privacy Notice, you agree that your personal information may be transferred to the United States or any other country where Corteva may conduct business, which may have a different data protection regime than the country in which you reside.
Information You Provide
This Notice covers any personal information you submit to apply or search for a position at Corteva. If you apply through the Careers Site as part of the job application or job search process, the following information may be collected:
- Name, contact information;
- Log-in and password;
- CV, resumé, cover letter, previous work experience and education information;
- Employment preferences, willingness to relocate, current salary, desired salary and how you heard about the Careers Site;
- Professional and other work-related licenses, permits and certifications held;
- Language and other relevant skills;
- Awards and professional memberships;
- Work authorization status, available start date;
- Information relating to references; and
- Any other information you elect to provide to us.
We ask that you avoid submitting the following information which may qualify as sensitive information under applicable law, except where such information is legally required: information on race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or national origin, age, gender identity, gender reassignment, sex life or practices or sexual orientation, marital status, medical or health information (including disability status), genetic or biometric data, political or philosophical beliefs, political party or trade union membership, background check information, judicial data such as criminal records or information on other judicial or administrative proceedings, and veteran status.
Any information you submit through the Careers Site must be true, complete and not misleading. Should the information provided be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, subject to applicable law, this may lead to a rejection of your application during the application process, or disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination if you are currently employed at Corteva. In addition, it is your responsibility to ensure that information you submit does not infringe on any third party’s rights and is not otherwise legally actionable by such third party.
If you intend to provide us with details of a reference or any other third party as part of your CV/resumé, it is your responsibility to obtain consent from that third party prior to providing the personal information to us.
Information from Other Sources. Corteva may obtain information about you from your references or from a background check report in connection with your application, as permitted by applicable law.
Use of Personal Information
We collect and process personal information when: (i) required by applicable law; (ii) necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering into an employment relationship with you; (iii) necessary to protect the vital interests of any person; or (iv) we have a legitimate interest to do so. We have a legitimate interest in collecting and processing Personal Information, for example, to
- process your application;
- assess your capabilities and qualifications for a job;
- conduct reference checks;
- provide to you any services available on the Careers Site;
- respond to your inquiries and communicate with you about your application;
- comply with or monitor compliance with any applicable law or regulation;
- monitor and record services whether provided by Corteva or a third party;
- conduct background checks if you are offered a job; and
- preserve our other legitimate interests, for example, for Corteva’s administrative purposes, aggregate management reporting, internal training, and as generally required to conduct our business within Corteva and its affiliates.
Personal information about you will be added to Corteva’s international candidate database and may be used for the purposes of considering whether your profile is suitable for other job vacancies at Corteva. If you do not wish us to do this, please contact us at the address listed below, under the ‘Contact Us’ section. If we elect to make you an offer, personal information you submit may be incorporated into our human resources system and used to manage the new-hire process. If you become an employee, any personal information that you submit may become part of your employee file and may be used for other employment/work-related purposes.
Corteva may also use the information as we believe to be necessary or appropriate: (a) under applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence; (b) to comply with legal process; (c) to respond to requests from public and government authorities including public and government authorities outside your country of residence; (d) to enforce our terms and conditions; (e) to protect our operations or those of any of our affiliates; (f) to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of our affiliates, you or others; and (g) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain.
The provision of personal information on the Careers Site is voluntary. Please note, if you do not provide sufficient information, Corteva may be unable to consider your employment application or, if employment is offered and you are hired, your subsequent promotion, transfer or relocation.
Disclosure of Personal Information
Corteva may share personal information with affiliates that are involved in evaluating candidates for a given position. Corteva Inc. and the local affiliate (“Company”) to which you submit your application will remain responsible for the personal information collected. Your personal information will be reviewed by Corteva employees or agents who have a business need to access such personal information and may include recruiters, human resources personnel, technical services (information technology) personnel and managers or their designees.
We may share personal information about you with selected service providers or consultants acting on our behalf, such as third parties assisting Corteva with the hosting and operation of the Careers Site, recruiting assistance, background check processing, and similar services. These third parties will be required to use appropriate measures to protect the confidentiality and security of personal information.
Corteva may also disclose personal information as we believe to be necessary or appropriate: (a) under applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence; (b) to comply with the legal process; (c) to respond to requests from public and government authorities within or outside of your country of residence; (d) to enforce our terms and conditions; (e) to protect our operations or those of any of our affiliates; (f) to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of our affiliates, you or others; and (g) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain.
Corteva may also transfer any and all information that we collect about you to third parties in the event of any merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of Corteva’s business, assets or stock (including without limitation in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
The information that you submit on the Careers Site will be stored in the United States (and in the relevant jurisdiction(s) if the job relates to one of Corteva’s affiliated entities outside of the United States). It will be reviewed and processed for the purposes described in this notice by employees, consultants and/or service providers of Corteva affiliates around the world.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (the “EEA”) we may transfer your personal information to countries outside of the EEA. Some of these countries are recognized by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of protection according to EEA standards (the full list of these countries is available here http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/international-transfers/adequacy/index_en.htm). With regard to transfers from the EEA to other countries, we have put in place adequate measures, such as standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission to protect your information. Data Retention
We are required to retain information relating to candidates applying for jobs within the United States. Personal information of candidates applying for jobs in other parts of the world will be retained for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Notice in accordance with local law and with the Corteva data retention policy. We may also retain your information for the purpose of considering whether your skills are suitable for other opportunities. If there is no activity in relation to the personal information, Corteva may remove it from its database, subject to Corteva’s data retention obligations and policies and any applicable legal or regulatory obligations or for the period of time permitted by local laws, for the purpose of considering whether your skills are suitable for other opportunities. Note that Corteva may delete personal information about you at any time (including your CV/resumé), without any reason. Therefore, please retain your own copy of the personal information provided to us.
Passive Information Collection: Cookies and Similar Technology
We and our service providers may use “cookies” and similar technologies on the Careers Site. Cookies are data that a web server transfers to an individual’s computer for recordkeeping purposes. We use cookies and other technologies to better serve you with more tailored information and facilitate your ongoing access to and use of our Careers Site. Access and Correction
If you choose to register on the Careers Site, you may access, review, and change some of the personal information collected about you and stored therein by logging into the Careers Site and updating your account information. Please note that the Corteva Talent Acquisition Team has the ability to see all the history of changes that you may make in your own profile. The updated profile will be used as the default the next time you apply for a job using your account online. To change personal information that you already have submitted for consideration for a specific position, please resubmit your application for that position and include the updated personal information about you in the application. We encourage you to promptly update your personal information if it changes or is inaccurate. Upon your request, we will deactivate or remove your personal information from our active databases, although some information may be retained as permitted under applicable law.
