Description

Corteva Agriscience is seeking a talented and enthusiastic electrophysiologist to join the Crop Protection Discovery & Development Mode of Action & Resistance Center of Expertise, based at our Indianapolis research and development facility. The successful candidate will use their expertise in electrophysiology and insect toxicology to identify and characterize the target sites of novel chemistries. The successful candidate must also be able to work in a team environment, network across scientific disciplines, and be capable of clearly communicating to a broad range of audiences both internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

  • Leveraging understanding patch clamp techniques to develop relevant native tissue assays.
  • Innovating at the intersection of entomology, pharmacology, insect receptor physiology, and biochemistry to elucidate and characterize the mode of action of experimental compounds.
  • Developing hypotheses and designing in vitro and in vivo experiments to guide insecticide target site identification.
  • Generating and clearly presenting summaries of technical results to a broad range of audiences.
  • Developing and implementing safety practices to ensure a safe work environment

Qualifications

Requirements:

What expertise have you grown in your career? What do you bring to the table?

  • Ph.D. in Electrophysiology, Insect Toxicology, Insect Physiology, Entomology or related field
  • Expertise in patch-clamp techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong track record of presentations and publications in related fields
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to successfully partner with team members from a variety of backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in understanding and elucidating mode-of-action
  • Training in neuronal receptor characterization
  • Working knowledge of chemistry
